TRAVEL INFORMATION

Rethymno does not have a direct connection by boat from Port of Piraeus or by air from Athens . It can be reached by public transport from Hrakleio (81 km, 1.30 hours) or from Chania (61km, 1 hour).

From Hrakleio:

By boat:

The boats (MINOΑN LINES, ANEΚ LINES) leave Port of Piraeus at 21.00 and arrive at Port of Hrakleio at 6.30 next morning. There is a direct connection from the port to Rethymno by public transport.

By air:

There are frequent flights (AEGEAN AIRLINES) from Athens to Hrakleio. From Hrakleio airport the bus terminal can be reached by a taxi (12 Euros).

From Chania:

By boat:

The boat (ANEΚ LINES) leaves Port of Piraeus at 21.00 and arrive at Port of Souda at 6.30 next morning. There is a direct connection from the port to Rethymno by public transport.

By air:

There are frequent flights (AEGEAN AIRLINES, RYANAIR) from Athens to Chania From Chania airport the bus terminal can be reached by public transport or by a taxi (22 Euros).

ACCOMODATION INFORMATION

The School will take place in the Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Rethymno which is situated in the old town. In walking distance from the Centre there are many hotels were the participants can stay. We have made arrangements with the following hotels which will offer special prices for the participants of the School:

When you contact one of the above hotels mention that you are one of the participants of the 8th Aegean Summer School. Once your travel plans are fixed book your hotel because the tourist period in Rethymno starts quite early.
