The annual meeting of the Hellenic Society for the Study of High Energy Physics

Athens, 28th March - 1st April 2018

General information
The Hellenic Society for the Study of High Energy Physics (HSSHEP) was founded in 1975. The majority of the Greek scientists (both in Greece and abroad) working in this field are members of the Society. Its main objectives are to promote the scientific work of the Greek scientists and to inform the general public and the Greek state on matters concerning the subject of H.E.P. The Society organises an annual Workshop where the research activities (both experimental and theoretical) of its members are presented. Young Greek scientists are encouraged to participate. At the same time foreign colleagues are invited to cover front-end research topics. The Society's Executive Committee (Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and two members) is elected during the Annual General Meeting which takes place at the conclusion of the Workshop.

The first day, Wednesday 28th March, will be dedicated to our late colleague and friend Ioannis Bakas.

Conference venue
The conference will take place in the Main Hall, Level 0, Administration Building in the Zografou Campus of the National Technical University of Athens, situated 5 km from the centre of Athens (Google maps coordinates 37°58'37.8"N 23°46'54.5"E ).

The Campus can be reached by METRO-Line 3(map), bus and car.
The nearest METRO station is KATEHAKI, around 1.5 km from the Conference venue.
Coming out of the METRO station, cross the road which is NOT under the pedestrian bridge and 30 m on your left there is a bus stop (map). Bus 242 takes you inside the Zografou Campus. The 7th stop is the nearest to the Conference venue (see map). Also from the same bus stop you can take Bus 140 which drops you in the ENTRANCE KOKKINOPOULOU of the Campus which is the third stop: POLITECHNIOUPOLI stop (see map).

For lunch, you can either visit one of the several cafeterias on campus for a light lunch (sandwitches, pies, drinks etc) or the campus restaurant with several dishes at a cost of €4.00-8.00/dish (see map). The Administration Building cafeteria is just outside the Conference Hall.

Coming to Athens
The centre of Athens can be reached from the Athens International Airport either by METRO, Line 1, or by bus. The METRO station (map) in the centre of the city is the SYNTAGMA station (on Line 1). The ticket costs €10,00. There is also an EXPRESS (X95) bus from the airport to the centre of Athens with a €6,00 ticket.
