Video Data Encoding

This section describes the main steps of MPEG video encoding according to the standard encoding pipeline shown in the figure below:

Note that for I and P frames after the Quantization phase reconstruction may be implemented through inverse quantization (QuantInv_MPEG2), inverse discrete cosine transformation (ippiDCT8x8Inv_16s_C1R, see DCT8x8Inv, DCT8x8Inv_A10), and, for non-intra macroblocks, motion compensation in the same way as in the decoder (see Figure "Macroblock Decoding Scheme"). The result is further used for motion estimation and compensation.
