Theoretical Particle Physics (AJO-12465) ============================================================================== Freiburg U. - Postdoc Field of Interest: hep-ph, hep-th Deadline: 2018-11-30 Region: Europe Job description: Freiburg U. - Postdoc (2+1) The Particle Theory Groups at the University of Freiburg (Germany) invite applications for a postdoctoral position in Theoretical Particle Physics. The appointment is for two years with a possible extension for a third year and with a start date of October 2019. Particle theory in Freiburg currently comprises the workings groups of S.Dittmaier (mainly electroweak interaction), H.Ita (mainly strong interaction), and J.J.van der Bij (mainly physics beyond the SM). Candidates should have a PhD in theoretical particle physics at the time of the appointment and exhibit experience in the fields of QCD, electroweak physics, Higgs physics, the calculation of radiative corrections, and/or physics beyond the Standard Model. Applications should be submitted preferably before 30 November 2018. Late applications will be considered until the position is filled. Applicants should provide a curriculum vitae, a list of publications and a brief description of their research interests, as well as arrange for at least two letters of recommendation to be submitted through the online form: https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/12465 Only online applications will be accepted. The preferred starting date is October 2019. The position will be paid at the level of an "Akademische Raetin/Rat auf Zeit", A13Z in the German civil servant system. The position will be associated to the particle theory groups of S.Dittmaier or H.Ita. Applicants should exhibit experience in the fields of QCD and electroweak physics, Higgs physics, the calculation of radiative corrections, and/or physics beyond the Standard Model. Experience with modern computational methods in perturbative QFT will be beneficial. At present, the particle groups at the Freiburg University consist of the theory groups of S.Dittmaier (many electroweak interactions), H.Ita (mainly strong interaction) and J.J.van der Bij (manly physics beyond the Standard Model), and the experimental ATLAS groups of B. Heinemann, G. Herten, K. Jakobs, and M. Schumacher as well as the astroparticle physics group of M. Schumann. The theoretical and experimental groups are collaborating in research projects as well as a common graduate school. Applicants are encouraged to collaborate with local PhD students and postdocs as well as to take advantage of the ample expertise in particle physics at the department. Applicants must hold a PhD degree and previous postdoc experience. Applications should be submitted preferably before 30 November 2018. Late applications will be considered until the position is filled. Applicants should provide a curriculum vitae, a list of publications and a short research statement, as well as arrange for at least three letters of recommendation to be sent to: https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/12463 Only online applications through Academic Jobs Online will be accepted.
