Dear colleague,
I am sending you the poster with the announcement of graduate
fellowships in our department: I would be grateful if you could,
if possible, print and post the poster
itself, and, more important, circulate the following information.
Our graduate school continues its ongoning effort to attract
students from abroad. The language of the graduate school is English,
both for physics and for administrative procedures.
Since last year, the amount of the baseline
fellowship has been increased to 1200 euro/month (net, after social
security and taxes); the fellowship also carries a (minimum) travel
grant of 3000 euro. The two highest-ranking students coming from
outside the Milan region are further awarded an extra bonus of 2000
euro/year, and the graduate fellowship may be further complemented by
teaching assistanships.
Admission is based on a cv, reference letters, a brief written essay,
and an interview, to be held in September (in person or via skype).
More information on our graduate school can be found at the link
http://phd.fisica.unimi.it/
and instructions on how to apply at
http://phd.fisica.unimi.it/admission/how-to-apply/
The deadline for application is September 4, 2017, for the degree
program starting in the Fall of 2017; succesful applicants must
obtain a Masters or equivalent degree by October 31 2017.
The research activity in our department is very diverse, and it covers
almost al subfields of physics. Three of our faculty hold advanced ERC
grants, in theoretical condensed matter physics, observational
cosmology, and high-energy pheonomenology.
I would be grateful if you could inform students in your department,
also outside your field of research, of this opportunity.
Best regards
Stefano Forte
